Michael K. Williams is currently in negotiations for a role in the new young “Han Solo” prequel spinoff film from Disney. Williams has made a name for himself as the infamous drug dealer Omar in “The Wire” on HBO and he played the ruthless Chalky White in “Boardwalk Empire” which was also on HBO. Moreover, the film has already casted “Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke and “True Detective” star Woody Harrelson in significant, yet mysterious roles in the new film. It seems that the directors of the film, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, are huge fans of HBO and the stellar actors on the hit television shows from those networks.

Who will he play?

No word yet on who Michael K. Williams will play, but we know that Donald Glover from “Community” is set to play young Lando Calrissian, so he is out of the question. Given the background of Williams and the characters her portrays, it would not be unorthodox to expect to see him as some kind of mob boss or bounty hunter in the new “Han Solo” film. Even a mercenary with Williams as the portrayal would be epic, so it will be interesting who he will play in the shady world of “Han Solo.”

Heist and western movies in one!

Alden Ehrenreich is set to play young Han Solo in the prequel that debuts on a much anticipated May 25, 2018. Little information about the characters in the film has been released, aside from the comments from the directors that the movie will be a mash-up of great heist and western movie themes.

Whoever Michael K. Williams is set to play, it will surely be a character with lots of grit that will leave us wanting more of him on screen.

Smile for the camera

The young “Han Solo” film is still untitled from Disney, but there was recently a cast photo released to display the stellar cast. Not a lot is known about who the actors will play in the film, aside from Ehrenreich and Glover, so speculation has started to mount.

Chewbacca will be making a return as well, so fans of the lovable Wookie can rejoice in song. So far, the film feels like a great Han Solo film, but too little information is known about the characters and the plot. Fans are excited because this film is the biggest tribute that could be created in honor of the character's swan song in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

Boba Fett versus Han Solo?

Han Solo” will be released from Disney on May 25, 2018.

A lot of news has been coming out about the cast, but expect more concrete information about the characters and plot in the new few months as production ramps up. If the young Han Solo film does well, a Boba Fett spinoff film could viably happen with a young Boba Fett. If that movie did come to fruition, could you imagine a crossover between the two films featuring a showdown between the two protagonists? Only time will tell what Disney will bring us to continue the “Star Wars” franchise, but with actors like Williams taking up roles in the new films it will be hard to resist watching.
