Fan favorite Kate Mansi played the role of Abigail Deveraux from 2011 through 2016. Fans watched her grow up and become a wife and mother. She had truly taken the role and made it her own. Viewers loved her and could identify with her in the role.

Why did she leave the show?

Kate had been up for a contract renewal and had weighed out her options. She made the tough decision not to renew and to leave the show. The executives of "Days Of Our Lives" decided to recast the role with Marci Miller.

Fans on social media have been very vocal about their disappointment with both Kate leaving and Marci being put in her place. Marci has never been able to bring the role to life the way Kate had.

The announcement of the 44th Annual Emmy Award nominations serve as a harsh reminder to fans of what was lost with the exit of Kate Mansi.

Kate has been nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series along with:

  • Kelly Sullivan (Sage, "The Young and The Restless")
  • Finola Hughes (Anna, "General Hospital")
  • Anna Marie Horsford (Vivian, "The Bold and The Beautiful")

This isn't the first time she has been nominated for her portrayal of Abigail. She was also acknowledged in the 41st Annual Emmy Award nominations for her work on "Days Of Our Lives."

When the actress left Salem, she had teased in an interview with IBT that she had big things coming. So far there has been no new appearances or news of movement in her career.
