A few years ago, Chris Evans was talking about retiring from acting to focus on a career behind the cameras instead. He hinted that he was coming to the end of his tenure playing Captain America in the Marvel movies and that possible "Avengers: Infinity War" could be the end for him. However, while promoting his new movie "Gifted," Evans has backed up on that claim.

What is Chris Evans plans for Captain America

Chris Evans has said that he wasn't going to last much longer playing Captain America and he isn't signed on past the two "Avengers: Infinity War" movies for Marvel.

However, that doesn't mean that Marvel will replace him or that Steve Rogers will die in those movies. According to Evans, it is not up to him to say no more. He said that he loves playing the character and it is almost like living in a fairy tale. He credits Marvel movies as being a "factory" that knows exactly what they are doing and he is willing to return because everything is such high quality. While it sounds like Chris Evans wants to try other things, there is a good chance that he will re-sign if Marvel comes calling.

What if Chris Evans leaves Marvel?

While Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man is the biggest name in the Marvel movies universe, there is no doubt that Chris Evans has owned the role of Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America.

Seeing someone else play Captain America is almost a strange as seeing a new Iron Man at this time. However, that is one of the ideas for the future of Marvel movies following "Avengers: Infinity War." Those two movies will see what is thought to be the end of the Marvel characters fans have followed the last decade and will open the way for new characters to step up.

Characters like Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Spider-Man, and Black Panther have already been introduced and there are many more heroes that Marvel can call on to fill the roles. There is also a chance that, like James Bond, a new actor could step up and take over the role. In Marvel, anything is possible, including replacing Captain America.
