"The Walking Dead" season 7, episode 10 aired Sunday night on AMC networks. In "New Best Friends," fans met Jadis, leader of the new community that surrounded Rick Grimes and his group. Some information about the new characters were revealed in the episode. However, actress Pollyanna McIntosh explained much more when she appeared as a guest on "Talking Dead."
About the new 'TWD' community
It was previously thought that the new group was set in a junkyard.
However, it turns out that it is actually a landfill. The leader's name is Jadis and their community was quite impressive. They have been at the landfill since the beginning. On "Talking Dead," the actress explained that they are called the Scavengers. However, on set, they are referred to as the "heapsters."
How the Scavengers survive
The leader told Rick Grimes that they take, but they do not bother. Not caring to interact with other survivors, it is interesting that she agreed to the proposal. However, Andrew Lincoln's character did not have an easy time proving himself when faced with Winslow.
Like Rick's group, the Scavengers have been through a lot together. The members are loyal and dedicated to the group. The landfill seemed like a maze and nobody would think to look there for survivors. Any intruders would not only have the Scavengers to deal with, but also Winslow, the armor-clad, spiked walker that Rick had to fight.
What does Jadis think of Rick Grimes in 'The Walking Dead?'
McIntosh said that Jadis is impressed with how Rick handled Winslow. However, that isn't all she noticed. She observed how Michonne (Danai Gurira) and the others verbally helped Rick defeat Winslow. It was clear to the Scavengers that they cared for and respected the Alexandrian leader.
Can Alexandria trust their new allies?
Although Jadis and Rick made a deal and negotiated terms, a poll revealed that 72% of fans do not trust the Scavengers. It seems that they don't want to cause harm to anyone. They just want to take what they need to survive. The second part of their motto is "do not bother." This is why they waited a long time for someone to get supplies from the boat. Instead of confronting them directly, they stalked and snuck into Alexandria.
They were unaware that Rick's group had to give those supplies to Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and the Saviors. This is just a theory, but as long as Rick honors their agreement and leaves them alone, then the Scavengers will probably not be a threat. However, that is just speculation and anything could happen.
What do you think of Jadis and the Scavengers on "The Walking Dead?" Can they be trusted or is Rick Grimes making a big mistake?
