This coming Sunday, February 26, the 89th annual Academy Awards will take place in Hollywood at the Dolby Theatre. The awards ceremony will air live and honor some of the best films from 2016.

Comedian and late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel will host this years Oscars. It was announced back in early December that he would be taking on the huge hosting responsibilities.

This will be the first time that Kimmel will serve as host of the Academy Awards although he has served as emcee for other awards shows in the past. Last year, Chris Rock hosted the Oscars and before that, Ellen DeGeneres took on the hosting duties.

And the nominees are...

Up for an Oscar for Actor in a Leading Role are Casey Affleck, Andrew Garfield, Ryan Gosling, Viggo Mortensen, and Denzel Washington. Up for the Academy Award for Actor in a Supporting Role are Mahershala Ali, Jeff Bridges, Lucas Hedges, Dev Patel, and Michael Shannon.

For the ladies, Isabelle Huppert, Ruth Negga, Natalie Portman, Emma Stone, and Meryl Streep have all been nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Best Actress in a Supporting Role nominations go to Viola Davis, Naomie Harris, Nicole Kidman, Octavia Spencer, and Michelle Williams.

There are nine movies nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture and are "Arrival," "Fences," "Hacksaw Ridge," "Hell or High Water," Hidden Figures," "La La Land," "Lion," "Manchester by the Sea," and "Moonlight." Best Animated Feature Film nominees are "Kubo and the Two Strings," "Moana," "My Life as a Zucchini," "The Red Turtle," and "Zootopia."

Academy Awards will also be handed out for other categories including Best Costume Design, Foreign Language Film, Cinematography, Directing, Film Editing, Music, Writing, Visual Effects and more. Some presenters set for the 2017 Oscars include Leonardo DiCaprio, Alicia Vikander, Brie Larson, and Mark Rylance. There are a total of 24 categories this year and the awards show is scheduled to air on ABC beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
