Reality television fans are in for a real surprise, as Mama June Shannon promises weight loss and total plastic surgery makeover. But the real shocker is daughter Alana Thompson's obesity. WEtv's "From Hot to Not" teases a slimmer Mama June, but the one who really needs help is Honey Boo Boo. The child star ignored "The Doctors" warning to lose weight, and seems to have gained weight.
Makeover for Mama June, bariatric surgery for Honey Boo Boo?
Trailers for "Mama June: From Not to Hot" (airing Feb. 24) show everyone shocked at the reality television star's transformation.
Mama June says she'll be unrecognizable after intense fitness and weight loss surgery. It doesn't seem to be gastric bypass surgery so it must be some kind of plastic surgery such as a tummy tuck. The mom of four appeared on "Botched" and underwent breast implant surgery. But amid accolades, one family member doesn't seem too pleased, and that's "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" star Alana Thompson. The tween girl is more obese than ever. Is "My 600-lb Life" the next reality TV show for Alana?
Did Honey Boo Boo heed 'The Doctors'?
Last year, the former "Toddlers and Tiaras" stars appeared on "The Doctors." Mama June Shannon was basically told to make Alana lose weight. They said that they could read morbid obesity and associated lifestyle diseases in the child's face.
Inflammation and flushed skin proved that if she didn't already have pre-diabetes (also called metabolic syndrome or insulin resistance) she would soon. And if that went untreated with weight loss, the next step would be Type 2 diabetes. They predicted heart failure, heart disease, and hypertension. Breathing trouble, lung problems, and sleep apnea loom in the future, too.
HBB's junk food addiction grows
Having a food addiction is bad enough, as "My 600-lb Life" patients will agree. But being addicted to junk food is even more dangerous. When reality television Dr. Younan Nowzaradan does bariatric surgery on the show, he cuts away hundreds of pounds worth of bad food choices. Years of eating little protein, few vegetables and fruits, high sodium, sugar, saturated fat, and cholesterol-laden foods result in stored fat that will eventually kill. It's not a matter of if, but when kids with obesity get dangerously sick. Mama June wants to get healthier but seems to ignore the fact that daughter Alana Thompson is getting sicker.
