"Rangoon," one of the most anticipated Bollywood films of the year was released in the United States on February 24, 2017.

Directed by Vishal Bharadwaj, this movie is a classy drama fixed in the backdrop of World War II. The film is loaded with an ensemble star cast like Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Satoru Kawaguchi, and Richard McCabe.

Positive reviews after special screening

A special screening of the movie was conducted on February 22, 2017, for some elite Bollywood personalities. After the screening, actor Randeep Hooda, director Anand L Rai, lyricist Prasoon Joshi and Apurva Asrani posted positive reviews about the flick on their official social media platforms.

According to first day reviews, brilliant performance by Kangana Ranaut is the major highlight of this film. Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor have also reportedly portrayed their roles with finesse.

'Rangoon' is not chopped, says Vishal Bharadwaj

Earlier, many reports surfaced on the Internet stating that director Vishal Bharadwaj has cropped the running time of the film by a whopping 40 minutes to make it more viewer friendly.

But Vishal rubbished these reports, and stated that the film's running time will be two hours and forty minutes, and this is the same length with which "Rangoon" has come out after censoring.

Audience response

Vishal also added that the news about the running time crop is nothing but someone's wild imagination.

Box-office prediction

The film was released in more than 1300 screens in India.

The film is expected to open well as the multiplexes, booking status in Bangalore, Mumbai, and Delhi is overwhelming. Trade experts predict that the movie will gross more than Rs 40 Crore from India alone by the end of its opening weekend.

Considering the pre-release hype, "Rangoon" is expected to do well in overseas centers, including the United States, Canada and in the Middle East.

Saif Ali Khan has a decent fan following in the US, and it will surely help the movie to fare well from the country.
