Amber Tamblyn may be best known for her roles in "General Hospital" and "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants", but now she can add "mother" to her long list of credits. She and husband David Cross ("Arrested Development") announced the birth of their first child, a daughter, via her social media accounts on Tuesday:

"David and I are proud to announce the birth of our daughter, Dauphinoise Petunia Brittany Scheherazade Von Funkinstein Mustard Witch RBG Cross Tamblyn-Bey jr. #TheFutureIsFemale"

While it is probably safe to assume that isn't the baby's actual name, don't go expecting a big reveal of her real moniker anytime soon; the couple has been notoriously private about their personal life together since they began dating in 2009.

Pregnancy revealed in October 2016

Tamblyn, 33 first announced her pregnancy last fall in a candid online piece for Glamour. In the article, she recounted telling her own mother about a past, traumatic sexual assault, information about which had been leaked online. The deeply personal essay looked at the pressures of being a woman in society and the added stress placed on mothers to protect and educate their daughters.

The couple refused to give into celebrity media's obsession with baby bumps, releasing only a few images of Tamblyn's growing belly on social media in the months that followed. Public appearances were also limited in the fall to a few screenings of the independent film she wrote and directed, "Paint it Black." She took part in last month's Women's Marches, alongside "Traveling Pants" co-stars Blake Lively and America Ferrara, in both New York City, to protest the election of President Donald Trump.

Couple married in 2012

The 19-year age difference between Tamblyn and Cross may have confused many fans when the couple went public with their relationship by announcing their marriage in 2012, but the pair seems to share an inappropriate, (and often unprintable,) sense of humor. To mark their fourth wedding anniversary, Tamblyn announced on Instagram:

"Happy 4th wedding anniversary to the most talented, wonderful, handsome, compassionate, inquisitive, kind, loving and understanding person I have ever known... Me. I love you, Me. And also David."

Their newly welcomed daughter is the first child for both actors.
