"Sister Wives" Kody Brown, his four wives, and their 18 children have opened their lives for the cameras. They have had a lot of controversy in the last year. Some of it has not been the best portrayal of a God-fearing family that is living by the ways of the church, and the Apostolic United Brethren have taken notice.

According to Radar Online, a source close to the family has spoken out. Kody has always billed the show as a "documentary" to the church. Many, however, have come to see it as simply a reality show that is only focused on ratings.

The catfish story with wife Meri was the last straw for the Mormon fundamentalist church's elders. The family has been officially removed from the church and is no longer welcome. Reports say that Kody was told that even if they relocate back to Utah, the doors will remain closed to them.

Polygamist issues are not addressed

This same source says that people who actually do practice Polygamy face some very rough situations. The Brown family, however, never address the problems and issue of living in a family made up of several wives and their children, with one husband. Instead, fellow church members felt they had made it more like a joke. They are annoyed and offended by how the Brown family has portrayed a plural marriage family to the viewing audience.

This has been coming for a while

The feelings in the church have apparently been growing for some time now. In 2015, Maddy requested to be baptized and the church refused. They felt her family was too public and she would have to leave them in order to be accepted as a member. Viewers who tuned in for her wedding saw that it was officiated by Kody Brown rather than a traditional Mormon wedding in the church temple.

Meri and Kody's daughter, Mariah, just revealed to her family that she is gay. The family is supportive of her and have said they are glad she knows herself and is being honest about who she is. This scenario was not mentioned in the report of the elders removing the family from the church, however. We can nix that rumor before it starts.
