On Jan. 21, 2017, Mike DelGuidice, the front-man of the Billy Joel tribute band, Big Shot, sat down and chatted with this journalist at Mulcahy's Pub and Concert Hall in Wantagh on Long Island. The acclaimed musician opened up about his plans for 2017 with Big Shot, as well as his solo endeavors.

In addition for being the lead singer and piano player of Big Shot, DelGuidice is the rhythm guitar player and background vocalist for Billy Joel and his live band, which has a monthly residency at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

New Year's resolutions

Regarding his New Year's resolutions, DelGuidice said, "To stay as healthy as possible. Family is always first, and I hope that they are as healthy as possible. To keep everything going and not make too many drastic changes. God has been doing a good job so far. I will stay out of his way. My resolution is to stay out of God's way."

His plans for 2017 are to continue booking more shows on the calendar, which is just about filled up for the entire year. "I will be performing with Billy Joel and with Big Shot. I will also have more original material. It's looking good," he said.

"We have a nice run of dates in Florida in March."

When asked what motivates him each day, DelGuidice responded, "Each day, I am motivated by my family, no doubt about it. Then, self-preservation and maintaining a peace of mind."

Paramount show

On January 28, 2017, Big Shot will be headlining The Paramount in Huntington on Long Island. "We are looking forward to that. We have the horn section again, and we are going to add a bunch of new songs. I am pretty sure it's sold out already," DelGuidice said, prior to praising everybody at The Paramount for being "great."

DelGuidice revealed that he will be performing his original recording "Ordinary Guy" at The Paramount next week, which has been featured in the television series, "Kevin Can Wait," starring comedian Kevin James.
