Usher is not joining “Dancing with the Stars” despite a rumor that he will be a contestant on Season 24 of the popular ABC dance competition show. The 38-year-old singer, songwriter, dancer, and actor has not agreed to hit the dance floor with other celebrities when the show returns in March 2017.

It's just a rumor

The rumor that Usher has signed up to be a contestant on "Dancing with the Star" began with a report from The Jasmine Brand, which is not a well-known source. It is a rumor that Usher has already begun shooting promotional clips for the show.

This rumor is not to be believed for a couple of reasons. The first reason is that Usher and his representatives are denying the singer will be a contestant. The second reason is that it is a little early for promotions to be aired. Fans are still reflecting on Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy's win from Season 23.

Most of those who commented on social media said Usher would be a good choice for "Dancing With The Stars," and they would definitely watch just to see him dance. Others commented that his partner would be one lucky lady.

Most people go on the show to get exposure. Usher doesn't need that type of exposure. Remember, he was a coach on NBC's "The Voice." Besides, he has already made a name for himself because of his music career over the last 25 years.

Back in September, he received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Celebrities on 'DWTS'

Since "Dancing with the Stars" began airing in 2005, about 300 celebrities have competed for one or more reasons. The producers of the reality show have their rules for inviting celebrities to become contestants. Some of the contestants are well known, while others are not as well known.

As a general rule, "Dancing with the Stars" always features athletes, musicians, actors, and television personalities. Surely, Usher fits into a couple of those categories. However, there is one main reason viewers should not expect to see Usher perform any of the ballroom dances. There is no evidence that he has been invited.

There is no evidence that he said "Yes." Additionally, there is no evidence that he is shooting promos for "Dancing with the Stars."
