After displacing the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ (RHCP) “Dark Necessities” (Necessities) on last week’s Active Rock Airplay Chart (ARAC), Chevelle’s “Joyride” retains the top spot at Active Rock Radio for a second straight week.
Mediocre audience totals means ‘Joyride’ is no airplay powerhouse
Joyride has yet to reach even six million in audience, meaning this song is not particularly an airplay powerhouse at Active Rock affiliates. In fact, Joyride actually declines a bit in total impressions this week, down 139,000 to 5.612 million.However, RHCP's Necessities audience shrinks by 224,000 to 5.511 million impressions, meaning the gap between the Top Two songs increases from just 16,000 to 101,000.As a point of reference, Necessities topped the ARAC two weeks ago with 6.617 million impressions (and peaked with over 7.6 million impressions).Also of note, Joyride only receives airplay from Active Rock at this point, whereas Necessities placed in the Top Five two weeks ago on Alternative and AAA as well.
Pretty Reckless looks next in line for Number One
The top ranking song gaining in impressions on the ARAC this week is at number five, Pretty Reckless’ “Take Me Down.” This song gains 504,000 in audience over last week, and could challenge Chevelle for Number One in the coming weeks.Since Pretty Reckless' singer also takes time to act, she is one of the true Celebrities in the music business.
