The wait is finally over, as Ilayathalapathy Vijay's much anticipated Indian Tamil movie "Theri" has hit the theaters in India and across the world on April 14, 2016.

The film which created massive pre-release hype before its release has fetched mammoth response from the audiences on the first day.

Fans of the actor celebrated the day with full ecstasy, and it will surely reflect in the opening weekend box-office collection.

"Theri" is directed by Atlee, who made his entry in to Kollywood through his blockbuster "Raja Rani".

Amy Jackson and Samantha Ruthwere signed as leading females after some Hindi actresses refused the roles.

Vijay has done the role of a dashing daredevil cop, and the viewers in theaters well received his mannerisms.

"Theri" got released in more than 1500 screens, and it includes 144 screens in the U.S.

In Kerala, it was released in around 300 theaters, and this clearly indicates the star power of Vijay in a Malayalam speaking state.

On Friday, Telugu dubbed version of the movie named "Policeodu' will be released. The first-week box-office accumulation is expected to fall between 20 - 25 crore INR.

G V Prakash Kumar has composed the music of the film.

This movie marks the 50th outing of GVP in Kollywood, and the tracks have already emerged as chart-busters.

The background score composed by the young man is the key factor which plays a crucial role.
