Odell Beckham Jr. is one of the most polarizing receivers in the NFL today, and he took the world by storm. The New York giants made a great decision in drafting Odell Beckham, and it proved that they are an intelligent organization.
Beckham Jr. has been known for his antics on the field and for being immature. I think that he is greatly understood in the league because of his passion and humbleness. He is by no means a bad guy or an arrogant person in my opinion. Better yet, he is a gifted athlete, and I think he will go down as one of the greatest football players to ever play at the wide-receiver position.
Passionate and humble
People really misunderstand Odell Beckham Jr. The receiver has come from a lot of setbacks and obstacles throughout his life. Also, OBJ is a hard worker and leaves it all on the field in every game and for practice. He can even be seen working hard in the offseason doing workouts on Instagram, and he is always posting motivational videos and pictures to his profile.
The idea that OBJ needs to grow up and be more mature needs to be taken with a grain of salt in my eyes at least because he is a passionate player. It is not his fault for his dancing and antics on the field. Odell is just playing the game that he loves and he is having some fun while doing it. The only reason for the immaturity is because he wants to win and is a passionate individual.
The individual will mature in the coming years being that he is only 24-years-old and he has already shown that he has a lot of heart.
Being in New York specifically makes it worse because his name is always on the radar. The New York media can be very involved at times and can be persistent, but that is what happens in the 'Big Apple.'
New deal on the horizon
Odell has one more year left on his contract with the Giants, so there is a high chance that he is signed to a big contract next year.
I would not be surprised to see the biggest paying contract in the NFL because of the dynamic player that he is.
There is no doubt in my mind that the Giants will offer him a huge extension after this year. Odell Beckham Jr. has been humble his whole career, he has proven his worth, and it can be argued that he has been underpaid so far for what he contributes overall to the team.
He gives a lot of credit to God for what he has been able to accomplish. Odell's significant other Jarvis Landry from the Miami Dolphins is a good friend of his. Both players went to LSU, and their play is similar in style.
Odell Beckham Jr. can do a lot on the football field. His one hand grabs are nothing short of entertaining or whimsical. It is merely breathtaking how he can snatch the ball right from the air with either one hand or two. The football player is fast, athletic, strong, and very explosive. What makes Odell so dangerous is his precise route running and being dangerous in open spaces.
The Giants upcoming season
The Giants are looking for a better result than losing in the first game of the playoffs last year.
However, it was the first time that the Giants got into the playoffs in years. The team looks great going into next season with their offseason acquisitions and Odell Beckham is surely looking to profit from the gains.
The Giants would not be as good as they are without Beckham, his stats speak on it alone. ESPN reports that Beckham Jr. has 35 touchdowns and 288 receptions for his career for 4,122 yards. He has done this in only three seasons with the team. Newest member, Brandon Marshall is a big target for Eli Manning.
It looks like Odell will have another incredible season, as he has been getting better year in and year out. The only big issue left for the team is the offensive line.
I think that the Giants are clear favorites to win the NFC East.
The only other big competitor I can see in the East are the Dallas Cowboys. However, I can see the Cowboys slipping up next year, as they usually do. The Redskins and Eagles lost some talent and looked like okay teams going forward.
The New England Patriots stand as key favorites to win it all again. While teams like the Steelers, Packers, Falcons, and the Raiders stand as other favorites.
