The NFL season is on the horizon as it kicks off in August. There have been a significant amount of moves made by teams to strengthen their rosters and boost their chances to win a Super Bowl. It looks like next season will be filled with excitement and plenty of passion. Here are the Top 5 teams going into the Regular Season.
1. The New England Patriots
It is no surprise that the reigning champions are at the first spot, as they made some key acquisitions over the summer to get even stronger. It only helps that they have arguable the best quarterback in the game in Tom Brady, who put on a big stellar comeback in the Super Bowl.
They got great upcoming player Brandin Cooks from the New Orlean Saints, who was a big weapon for the franchise. Rob Gronkowski will also be making his return to the NFL after an injury derailed season. They also have valuable players Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, and Danny Amendola.
They are also led by the great coach Bill Belichick, who makes due with the players he has at his disposal. On defense they were able to get David Harris from the Jets and they still have hero corner Malcolm Butler. The Patriots look unstoppable heading into next season.
2. Atlanta Falcons
Do not let the defeat and choke in the Super Bowl trick you. This team is still very powerful, as they still have many of the same offensive weapons from last year.
Their defense is not terrific, but they showed last year that they could improve over the season.
They are also led by great QB Matt Ryan, who almost stole the show at the Super Bowl. They also have one of the best wide receivers in Julio Jones, the big and powerful receiver. They have plenty of other options on the field to throw too in Mohamed Sanu, Taylor Gabriel, and running back Devonta Freeman.
Atlanta fans will be hoping that they do not choke again in the playoffs or Super Bowl if they reach it yet again. No doubt, the Falcons are looking great heading into next season at the number two spot.
3. Oakland Raiders
The Raiders are at the top three spot with their great rejuvenated offense and years of promise. They have a stellar QB in Derek Carr, who took the NFL by storm last season with impressive throws and runs.
A big story of the offseason was the Raiders getting Marshawn Lynch out of retirement. He will be looking to make a statement and chase a ring. It seems that he has a lot left in the tank and that he is hungrier than before. They also are led by an impressive offensive line.
There are offensive weapons all over the field in Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree. The defense is on a mission with Bruce Irvin and Khalil Mack. As if this was not enough, they have a lot of young stars for the future.
4. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been a big competitor for a while in the league. They should not be slept on. The team that has the most Super Bowl rings should not be undervalued.
They are led by veteran strong QB Ben Roethlisberger and by their star wide receiver Antonio Brown.
Le'Veon Bell is an underrated running back in the league, his only issue is his durability with injuries. But his shiftiness, power, and speed are a marvel making him one of the best in the league.
They have other weapons in returning receiver Martavis Bryant, who is looking to get back to the NFL from many suspensions. He is a gifted and lengthy wide receiver who could have a great season.
The Steelers have a good offensive line to protect their QB. On the defensive side, they are led by beast James Harrison and Ryan Shazier. The Steelers are an overall great team.
5. Green Bay Packers
And last but not least, the Green Bay Packers are the fifth on the list. The Packers made some key acquisitions in getting Martellus Bennett.
They have other great receivers in Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, and Davante Adams. Aaron Rodgers has a lot of weapons to work with and he is a magician with the ball.
The offensive line is an issue for them going into the season as they let players go. The defense needs some work, but they have proven that they can win games. Defense is the biggest issue for them going forward.
