If you're ever feeling down or depressed in life, then I suggest you watch Shawshank Redemption. This movie isundoubtedly one of the most hopeful movies to have ever been produced, and no movie in the future can come close to it.

The Shawshank Redemption, with Tim Robbins, Morgan Freeman, Bob Gunton, and William Sadler, is the highest rated movie on IMDB, with an exceptional rating of 9.3 out of 10. The movie tells the story of Andy Dufresne, who is wrongly convicted of murder and is sent to the Shawshank prison for life, where he meets a fellow prisoner named Ellis Red.

Over the course of time, Red and Andy become the best of friends, while the prison warden begins to use Andy in his money laundering schemes.

However, when Andy finds concrete evidence of his innocence in the form of an incredible stroke of luck, he's still kept as a prisoner by the warden, who doesn’t want to let him go. Eventually, Dufresne escapes the prison by plying through a pile of feces and comes out as a clean man. Moreover, he uses the warden’s money to start a new life by very clever plotting. In addition to this, he also brings out the true color of the warden in front of the world by exposing his nature.

The key point that we cannot ignore here is the fact that Andy did all of this over the course of 17 years.

For 17 years he kept on going, never giving up hope or losing the light that kept him burning. While most of us would have accepted our fate in just a few months, Dufresne refused to succumb and kept on going strong.

The movie has a very important theme – that we must never give up hope even if the odds are stacked against us.

Keeping hope in the darkest of times will lead us to a brighter tomorrow. That's what happened with Andy, who kept going despite seemingly insurmountable odds and the deck heavily stacked against him. Of course, his best friend Red also played an important part in the whole process, whom we also see at the end of the movie. The film was directed by Frank Darabont (who many may know from his work on The Walking Dead).
