In the era of the "Me Too" movement, former President Bill Clinton has found himself back in the spotlight due to his controversial past relationship with Monica Lewinsky. After Donald Trump Jr. responded to Clinton's recent comments on the issue at hand, critics wasted no time firing back.
Did Bill Clinton just #metoo Monica Lewinsky??? I (almost) have no words... Props for always being ahead of the curve as the first male to publicly somehow claim victim-hood from his actions against women. Balsy! Stupid... but balsy!!! https://t.co/Fvn7Cp3OmP

Don Jr. on Clinton
In the late 1990s, the biggest political scandal that dominated the news cycle revolved around Bill Clinton and his affair with then secretary Monica Lewinsky.
Clinton was accused of lying about having a sexual relationship with Lewinsky, which at times took place inside the Oval Office. Due to the balance of power in the Congress at the time in favor of the Democrats, Clinton was able to remain in office but the stain of the scandal has remained ever since. Fast forward to present day and the rise of the "Me Too" movement has shed a light on men in powerful positions taking advantage of women, which turned into a heated argument on Monday morning with Clinton defending himself.

While appearing on the June 4 edition of "TODAY" on NBC, Bill Clinton said he didn't owe Monica Lewinsky an apology, which rubbed many the wrong way.
In a tweet sent out just moments later, Donald Trump Jr. hit back. "Did Bill Clinton just ME TOO Monica Lewinsky???" Don Jr. wondered. "I (almost) have no words...Props for always being ahead of the curve as the first male to publicly somehow claim victim-hood from his actions against women," he went on to tweet, while concluding, "Balsy!
Stupid...but balsy!!" As expected, those who oppose the current president made sure to give the younger Trump a reality check.
Twitter reacts
Within moments of Donald Trump Jr's tweet, the opposition made their thoughts loud and clear. "Seriously Junior, when are you going to speak out against your father?" Matthew Dowd of ABC News replied.
At least @BillClinton eventually admitted his sex scandal. Your father is a liar. #BeBest

Um, Junior? Nice try. Your misogynistic dad is the literal impetus for the #metoo movement starting. So get that term out of your mouth, please.

Did your dad dictate this statement, too?

"Did your dad dictate this statement, too?" former Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor tweeted back. "Your dad is the quintessential crisis actor playing the victim. You might want to sit this one out," another tweet stated. "Um, Junior? Nice try. Your misogynistic dad is the literal impetus for the Me Too movement starting.
So get that term out of your mouth, please," writer Alyssa Hertzig wrote.
Your dad has done literally the exact same thing, dumbass

"How was the crime family retreat in Camp David? I guess you all needed extra security to discuss your next moves? BTW, your father threatened to sue his 19 accusers," a social media user tweeted. "At least Bill Clinton eventually admitted his sex scandal. Your father is a liar," author Jeffrey Guterman posted.
