In recent years, many on the political left and right have complained that society has become too sensitive, with even liberal comedians like Bill Maher making a point to offer his criticism. After tweeting about the issue known as "cultural appropriation," Donald Trump Jr. quickly came under fire from critics.

When Donald Trump first kicked off his campaign for president back in the summer of 2015, he instantly faced an onslaught of criticism after referring to illegal immigrants from Mexico as "rapists" and "murderers." Trump faced backlash due to his controversial language, while defending himself against the "political correctness" of the modern political left.

Whether it was issues dealing with language, humor, social or political issues, the divide on political correctness in the country has become clear, though it's not always isolated to just liberals vs conservatives.

In a tweet sent out on May 6, Donald Trump Jr. decided to tackle the issue of "cultural appropriation," which is defined as a majority dominant culture adopting elements of a minority culture. "A question that would only have to be asked in 2018: Is speaking another language Cultural Appropriation???" Don Jr. wondered in his tweet. "If so, could someone give me some tips on how to forget or become un-fluent in my second language," the younger Trump wrote with sarcasm, before adding, "Wouldn’t want to offend.

Thanks." Don Jr's tweet resulted in those who oppose the Trump family speaking out.

After Donald Trump Jr. tweeted about cultural appropriation, critics wasted no time hitting back. "Is Russian your second language? You traitor scumbag," one tweet read.

"I doubt you’re fluent in Czech but it is apparent you are fluent in stupid and that is not "cultural appropriation," a Twitter user wrote, which received a response from Don Jr.

who asked "Care to put your money where your mouth is?" "I didn't know douche-bag was a second language," another tweet read with mockery.

"Don’t worry about that Don.

Worry about the staggering damage you’ve done to your 5 children because you’re a lying cheater who’s about to smear their mother," a social media user wrote. "YOU and your fat a** lying daddy are racist POS that are dividing our country. Seriously? What purpose does your tweet have but to divide and rally your racist base. No wonder your wife left you and will end up raising your kids with a real man! Have fun in prison cupcake!," a follow-up tweet went on to read.
