After another mass shooting resulted in the deaths of 17 innocent people, the political divide was quickly evident. In response, Donald Trump has decided to put the full blame of the shooting at the doorstep of the FBI.

Trump on FBI

Over the last year, the biggest political story has been the investigation into Russia's hacking of the 2016 presidential election, and whether or not Donald Trump was in cahoots with the Kremlin.

While the president has repeatedly claimed there was "no collusion" between himself and Russia, various sources say otherwise. Over the last week, 13 Russian nationals were indicted on charges of meddling with the 2016 election, which Trump attempted to use to vindicate himself of any wrongdoing. To double down on his defense, Trump is now targeting the FBI for not preventing the mass shooting at school in south Florida last week.

It was last Wednesday when 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz walked into Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida with a loaded weapon in his hands. By the time he was apprehended by police, Cruz had killed 17 people and injured many others.

In the days that followed, it was revealed that the FBI didn't follow protocol on the leads they were given which may have prevented the shooting. During a tweet on February 17, Trump decided to use that to his advantage.

"Very sad that the FBI missed all of the many signals sent out by the Florida school shooter," Donald Trump tweeted, before adding, "This is not acceptable." "They are spending too much time trying to prove Russian collusion with the Trump campaign - there is no collusion," Trump wrote, while concluding, "Get back to the basics and make us all proud!"

Trump's double down

In a follow-up tweet, Donald Trump went on to accuse Democrats and Hillary Clinton of colluding with Russia, once again pushing back against the allegations.

"General McMaster forgot to say that the results of the 2016 election were not impacted or changed by the Russians and that the only Collusion was between Russia and Crooked H, the DNC and the Dems," he wrote.

"Remember the Dirty Dossier, Uranium, Speeches, Emails and the Podesta Company!" Donald Trump stated in his final tweet as of press time. With the Russian investigation heating up and special counsel Robert Mueller appearing to be hot on the president's heels, only time will tell how it all plays out and what Trump's next response will be.
