Sridevi, the Indian icon, who acted in more than 300 movies, has died at the age of 54. In Dubai, Sridevi had gone to attend a marriage ceremony of her relative, Mohit Marwah, where she suffered a cardiac arrest. Sridevi's brother-in-law confirmed to the Indian Express on Saturday morning (Feb. 24) that she had passed away while attending a wedding ceremony.

She was loved and adored by millions of her fans for her magical roles in famous movies like “Chandni,” “Mr. India,” “Himmatwala,” and many others. After her marriage to Boney Kapoor, she took a long break from the film industry.

Six years ago, she returned to the big screen with a movie called “English Vinglish,” after which she worked in three other movies.

Navdeep Suri's statement on Sridevi’s sudden death news

On Saturday evening (Feb.24), Sridevi collapsed due to a heart attack in the hotel room, and, unfortunately, a medical team could not revive her. Navdeep Suri, the Indian Ambassador in UAE, told NDTV that while taking her to the hospital she was declared dead and added that after some forensic procedures, her body will be sent to Mumbai for the last rituals.
