One name that doesn't get too much attention in the media is Hope Hicks, the current White House Communications Director. After excerpts of a new book about Donald Trump's first year in office was released on Wednesday, Hicks was caught up in the drama.
Trump and Hicks
After Donald Trump announced that he was running for president back in the summer of 2015, his campaign and those involved quickly dominated the headlines on a daily basis.
Whether it was Trump himself or his associates, those close to the former host of "The Apprentice" have become political stars, but often for all the wrong reasons. One name that has been in and out of the news has been Corey Lewandowski, who served as Trump's campaign manager from its inception until June 2016, where was briefly replaced by Paul Manafort and later Kellyanne Conway. Around the same time, Trump hired Hope Hicks to serve as his campaign's communications director, before being brought into the White House to serve in a similar position. Hicks has since come under fire on social media as critics of the president have accused of her of being used by Trump due to her good looks and age of just 29-years-old.
On January 3, parts of Michael Wolff's new book "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House" was released and revealed controversial information about Donald Trump, Hope Hicks, and Corey Lewandowski.
As reported by MSNBC on Wednesday, Michael Wolff's book reports that Corey Lewandowski has been in an on-again, off-again dating relationship with Hope Hicks. The news came as a surprise to many considering Lewandowski is married with four children. The book details a conversation that allegedly took place at Trump Tower with Donald Trump expressing concern over how the media had been handling Lewandowski and his relationship with the White House. When Hicks asked what she could do to help, Trump reportedly replied that she had "already done enough," before adding, "You’re the best piece of tail he’ll ever have." Wolff then claims Hicks was so stunned by the response that she ran out of the room.
Twitter response
After the news broke about Donald Trump's alleged remarks to Hope Hicks, critics on social media lashed out. "I thought Hope Hicks was supposed to be smart, Lewandowski? Ewww," one tweet read.
"Only true words trump ever spoke. Let's be honest, Hope Hicks is def a knockout!" one Twitter user wrote. "Eeeeew. If (HH) didn’t sing like a bird to Mueller—if she helped protect Trump—you do have to wonder why she, as a very young woman, would put her own future in jeopardy. He called her a piece of tail to her face and she still steamed his pants. While he was wearing them?" a follow-up tweet added.
"Anybody else think Hope Hicks is on deck as wife number four?" an additional tweet pointed out. "Hope Hicks is pretty intelligent and needs to step away from being a mistress! I can actually hear him saying this that is how he talked all his miserable life!" yet another tweet read.
