Over the course of Donald Trump's time as a politician, he's been forced to deal with allegations that he is prejudice towards immigrants and minorities. In his latest tweets, the president is coming under fire once again.

Trump on Twitter

It started the moment Donald Trump kicked off his campaign for president when he labeled illegal immigrants from Mexico as "rapists" and "murderers." Since then, Trump has taken a hard-line stance on immigration, whether it pertains to Hispanics or Muslims coming from the Middle East.

The latest issue facing the commander in chief stems from comments he reportedly made during a recent bipartisan meeting on immigration. After being presented with the idea of allowing protections for immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador and countries in Africa, Trump balked at the proposal and referred to those nations as a "sh*thole." In the days that have passed, Trump has done his best attempt at damage control by denying that he used the term "sh*thole," but rather other "tough" language. With the backlash still picking up steam, the president decided to tweet out a report by the Department of Homeland Security about the number of Foreign Born individuals committing terrorist acts.

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday night, Donald Trump attempted to shift the focus to a recent report to back up his position on immigration and national security. "New report from DOJ & DHS shows that nearly 3 in 4 individuals convicted of terrorism-related charges are foreign-born," Trump tweeted out.

"We have submitted to Congress a list of resources and reforms we need to keep America safe, including moving away from a random chain migration and lottery system, to one that is merit-based," Donald Trump concluded in the second part of his post. As expected, those who oppose the president weren't pleased, including Maggie Haberman of the New York Times who was forced to fact-check the president over his incorrect use of the term "foreign born" instead of "international."

Twitter reaction

Within minutes of his post on Twitter, Donald Trump faced criticism.

"New report also shows you still have not released your tax returns," one tweet read.

"The war on brown people continues," another tweet added. "American citizens are responsible for more mass-shooting deaths than any foreign-born terrorists. And it’s not even close," an additional tweet stated.

"In yet Americans kill MORE AMERICANS than any other group i.e. Vegas, Texas Church shooting. But ya that's great your fixated on on something positive for a change. Glad Day Care is working today," a Twitter user wrote. "I thought you passed the cognitive exam..you ramble on and on about the same shiyat.." a tweet noted.
