Track Palin, eldest son of former Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin, was arrested on Saturday, Dec. 16, for assaulting his father, Todd, following a dispute over a truck. According to court filings, Todd Palin was left with cranial and facial injuries after refusing to allow his son to take the truck due to Track's "drinking and taking pain medication."
According to police records after the phone call from his son, Todd drew his pistol and swore to "protect his family" but could not bring himself to shoot his son.
Instead, Track Palin broke in through a window before tackling his father to the ground and beating him mercilessly. Todd managed to escape his son and fled the house with his face lacerated and bleeding, but it was Sarah who had called the cops. This event culminated in a 15-minute standoff between their son and the cops, in which Track stood on the roof of the garage demanding that the cops holster their weapons.
Not the first time
This was not the first time that Palin's son has been involved in domestic abuse. He was arrested in 2016 for domestic Assault involving a female and possession of a firearm.
He was also intoxicated on that occasion. Those charges were dropped following a plea deal. According to past police reports, he punched and kicked the woman, before throwing her phone and threatening to commit suicide.
Per CNN, Sarah Palin believes that much of her son's issues stem from serving time overseas. He came back with a bad case of post-traumatic stress disorder and was mentally wounded after his year-long deployment in Iraq back in 2008. She also appears to take a stab at Donald Trump, regarding the handling of our veterans, saying that "more than ever, it is now or never that for the sake of America's finest that we have that commander-in-chief who will respect and honor them".
Current charges
Track Palin faces charges of Felony first-degree burglary, misdemeanor criminal mischief, and fourth-degree assault. The burglary charge has a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison, though it is unlikely that he will serve any of this time. It is far more likely that, either another plea deal will be agreed upon, or the charges will be dropped. He is now being held on a $5000 bail.
The family is seeking privacy during this difficult time as the family needs to come together to figure out this issue. Both the Palin's themselves and their attorneys declined to comment further on the case at this time.
