After yet another woman came out to accuse Roy Moore of sexual assault, the senator decided to go in front of the camera and break his silence. While Moore made his case, critics across social media hit back.

It was just last month when Roy Moore defeated the Donald Trump-endorsed Luther Strange to become the Republican nominee to fill the vacant seat in the United States Senate.

The seat became available after former Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions was brought into the White House where he currently serves as Attorney General. As of press time, Moore is scheduled to face off against his Democratic challenger Doug Jones, in what was expected to be a fairly routine victory for the Republicans in the typically red state. However, earlier this week the Washington Post published a bombshell report that claimed Moore had attempted to engage in sexual activity with four underage girls dating back to as far as 1979. As expected, Moore has denied the allegations, labeling them a smear campaign by the "liberal media." Despite this, top Republicans, including Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell, have called on Moore to step down.

On Monday, another accuser came forward, this time claiming Moore sexually assaulted her when she was only 15-years-old, while presenting her high school year book as evidence where the senate hopefully appeared to have written a personal message to the woman in question. As reported by ABC News on November 13, Moore is speaking out in his defense.

As the pressure mounts on Roy Moore to make a decision about whether or not he will stay in the race as the allegations around him pile up, he decided to continue his defense. "I can tell you without hesitation this is absolutely false," Moore said, with his wife and supporters by his side.

"I never did what she said I did. I don't even know the woman," Roy Moore went on to say, while adding, "I don't know anything about her." Moore then ripped into those who have accused him of the crimes in question, referring to them as a clear "political maneuver."

Doubling down on Moore's remarks was his wife, Kayla, who said that he husband was a "Godly" man." "He has never one time lifted a finger to me...he's Godly," she said, before noting, "He's loving, and everybody in this community knows it." Kayla concluded her comments by saying that the allegations were part of the "ugliest politics" she had ever been around.

Social media reaction

In response to the defense given by Roy Moore and his wife, critics didn't wait very long to fire back. "It's amazing how long men in positions of power (Weinstein, Roy Moore, Louis CK) can get away with sexual assault. Men are surprised at this; women are not. Which is why we must listen to & believe women," actor Kumail Nanjiani‏ said.

"Roy Moore: Just another Bible-thumping hypocrite in the Jimmy Swaggart mode. Same tiresome follow-up, too: Blame the victim," author Stephen King tweeted out. "Guarantee you at night (RM) puts on a boar mask and completes his transformation into a season one TRUE DETECTIVE villain," novelist Saladin Ahmed wrote.

"Just to be clear. If the choice is between Roy Moore and a Democrat, I would run to the polling place to vote for the Democrat," Republican Sen. Jeff Flake went on to tweet. The negative reaction continued as the opposition to Roy Moore, even from Republicans, is showing no signs of coming to an end.
