The gunman who orchestrated the December 2012 shooting at the Sandy Hook elementary school may have preyed on children. The FBI has however stated that it has no proof that Adam had intimate contacts with children, according to documents the agency released on Tuesday. The report by the FBI containing 1,500 pages of the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting is available on the FBI's archive webpage.
The report includes multiple disturbing pieces of evidence on the shooter. A woman dating Adam told the FBI that he once said to her that "intimate relationships between adults and children could be likely helpful to both parties."
According to the woman, Adam believed that mass murders were a sign of a broken society. He also thought that he would save children from harmful influences by committing a mass murder. A report by the state police also stated that Adam advocated for pedophilia rights and the freedoms of children. Data from Adam's computer also showed a video clip of a relationship between a 30-year-old man and a 10-year-old boy.
Adam's obsession with mass shootings
The unidentified woman, who was interviewed by the FBI, said that Adam was "the weirdest person online." She also said that he once paid tribute to German Tim Kretschmer and Canadian Kimveer who participated in school shootings. Adam also dedicated almost all his internet activity by researching on spree killings and mass murders. He even spoke about homicides and their perpetrators with respect, according to the FBI. Moreover, he behaved like a shooter and was fascinated of their actions.
Sandy Hook school massacre
The Sandy Hook school killings occurred on December 14, 2012, around 9:35 AM 20 children between the ages of six and seven were killed. Six staff members of the school were also killed.
Adam also shot and killed his 52-year-old mother at their home in Newtown. Apparently, he died by shooting himself in the head at around 9:40 AM, just 5 minutes after arriving at the school. He acted alone, according to the investigators.
According to the Office of the Child Advocate, Adam developed the Aspergers syndrome as a teenager. He experienced anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsory disorder as a result of the syndrome. The children advocacy office went ahead and noted that his condition, combined with his obsession with violence and access to weapons might have pushed him to commit the mass murder.
