The British royal family is set to welcome a new member, after the Kensington Palace announced that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting another baby. BBC reported that Queen Elizabeth is “delighted” about this milestone.

The Royal Family, the Twitter account for Queen Elizabeth, retweeted the announcement by the Palace. Meanwhile, Clarence House, the account for Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles tweeted, “TRH are delighted with the news that The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their third child.”

Kate Middleton is pregnant

Yet to be named, the third child is set to become fifth in line in the British monarchy, trailing behind Prince Charles, Kate’s husband Prince William, their children Prince George, and Princess Charlotte, according to BBC.

The child is the sixth great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth.

Kate Middleton cancelled her appearance to an engagement event in London that was supposed to be held the afternoon of September 4. According to the British news agency, the announcement came just as when pregnant women are scanned for the first time.

The Duchess has also been suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, a pregnancy-related condition that includes severe morning sickness. She is currently staying at Kensington Palace, BBC added.

Prince William and Kate Middleton currently have two children. Their first-born son Prince George is now four years old, while their first daughter Princess Charlotte is now two years old.

Queen sends message to hurricane victims

Earlier, The Queen also sent her sympathies for the victims of Hurricane Harvey in the United States.

Last Friday, a statement posted on the official website of the Royal palace said she was “deeply saddened” about the destruction caused by the massive flooding.

“I was deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and the devastation following the recent terrible floods caused by Hurricane Harvey,” she wrote. She has also sent her condolences to the casualties brought by the calamity.

“Prince Philip and I send our sincere condolences to the victims of this disaster, to those who have lost loved ones, and to those who have seen their homes and property destroyed,” she continued. “My thoughts and prayers are with those affected.”

Hurricane Harvey made a landfall in Houston, Texas last week, causing massive flooding and heavy amounts of rainfall. This area was among the hardest-hit locations in the United States.

The storm claimed lives and damaged several houses. Almost 800,000 people were evacuated from their homes, according to Hello Giggles website.
