Because of their fishbowl existence since Donald Trump became the 45th president of the United States, the two adult sons of the real estate billionaire are not thrilled with their very public lives, to say the least. In the case of Donald Jr., who is under scrutiny for meeting Russians and asking for political dirt that the Trump campaign could use against then-Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, he is reportedly miserable, The New York Daily News reported.
The repercussion from his meeting with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, Russian-American lobbyist Rinat Akhmetshin, and Crocus Group Senior Vice President Ive Kaveladze on June 9 has limited Donald Jr.’s moves. He cannot enter into deals for fear of public scrutiny. The 39-year-old official of the Trump Foundation leaves Manhattan with his wife and five kids for a quieter existence on weekends in upstate New York where he fishes and hunts, People magazine reported.
Unhappy with the White House life
According to a source who spoke to People, although Donald Jr. and 33-year-old Eric are not staff members of the White House, unlike their sister Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner -- who is a senior adviser to Trump -- being in the public eye is not something they wanted.
While the two are not happy that their father is the president of the nation, they have to publicly support him through social media posts that often elicit negative feedback from netizens.
The insane way loyalty is observed in the family, however, dictates the children would never talk against their father. Their only recourse, for now, is to wish the four years will soon be over, which is something many Americans also pray for.
Senate testimony
In the meantime, the Trump Tower 3 – Donald Jr., Kushner, and Paul Manafort – will have another meeting, this time with several U.S. Senate committees next week to shed light on the meeting with Russians, Reuters reported. Donald Jr. initially said they discussed only the adoption of Russian children by American families.
When he appeared on Fox News about the meeting over a dossier which Veselnitskaya offered that could help Republican candidate Trump beat Clinton, the presidential son admitted he was interested in the offer. The Senate committee hearings are on top of an ongoing investigation, led by special counsel Robert Mueller, to probe the Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election.
To worsen matters for Donald Jr., names of two other meeting participants emerged over the past few days. That made the president’s namesake appear to be hiding something from the public for not disclosing all the details of the meeting which could be key to the downfall of the Trump presidency.
