Prince William and his younger brother, Prince Harry, are remembering their mother more than normal this time of year. In just over a month, it will be 20 years since the horrific car accident in Paris, France took the life of Princess Diana. According to a Saturday, July 22 report by the Chicago Tribune, both Prince William and Prince Harry are participating in the documentary “Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy,” which will air on British television.
Both Princess Diana's sons remember their last conversation with their mother. They spoke with her on the telephone while she was vacationing in Paris, France.
Prince William, Prince Harry and Princess Diana had no idea this would be the last time they would ever speak to each other. Princess Diana would die in a car accident later that same day.
The last conversation between Princess Diana and her two sons
Both Prince William and Prince Harry said they were anxious to get off the telephone with their mother. They were busy playing with their cousins. They both expected to speak with her again very soon. That never happened.
According to the previously mentioned report by the Chicago Tribune, William and Harry regret being in a hurry to get back to playing with their cousins. They both wish they had taken more time to speak with Princess Diana. They live with those regrets and wishes every day of their lives.
It has only been in the past year Prince William and Prince Harry spoke publicly about the loss of Princess Diana. Both of her sons have dealt with their grief over losing their mother privately. It is commonly known that the British royal family mourns out of the public eye.
Keeping Princess Diana's memory alive in the lives of her grandchildren
According to the previously mentioned Chicago Tribune report, Prince William often tells his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, about their grandmother. He does this so Diana will have a presence in their young lives. Prince William admitted Princess Diana would have been a “lovely grandmother” and would have loved her grandchildren “to bits.”
