Eleven-year-old AbbieGail "Abbie" Smith was murdered last week in Keansburg, New Jersey. The young girl's father and older sister live in Jamaica. They are grief stricken over her death and even more so because they cannot come to the United States to attend her Funeral next Monday because of President Donald Trump's new travel regulations.
The Smiths want to go to Keansburg, New Jersey to pay their final respects and say goodbye to their relative who was fatally stabbed in her neck last week.
She was reported missing until her body was found on the roof of the apartment building where she lived on July 13.
Difficulty getting to the United States
Kenroy Smith has been begging President Trump to intervene to allow him and his daughter Kenish to go to the funeral. Kenish's Visa application was denied without a reason given for the denial. Even after she provided official documents from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office concerning her sister's death, her visa was still denied. Kenroy was deported from the United States 18 years ago on a drug charge after he was arrested for marijuana.
Another sister, Latisha Smith, lives in Maryland. She has been doing what she can to get her father and sister to New Jersey to attend Abbie's funeral. She has visited local immigration offices and sent lots of emails to get visas for her father and sister. Before Abbie's death, she and Latisha frequently visited their father and sister in Jamaica since they couldn't come to the United States.
