In a heated interview with CNN’s Alisyn Camerota on Friday, Kellyanne Conway, counselor to President Donald Trump, accused the network of aiding and abetting Russia ‘nonsense.’
During the interview, Camerota asked Conway about Putin’s efforts to hack the elections and what the White House has decided to do about it. Conway said that president Trump, on many occasions, has made it clear that he would be concerned about anybody interfering with the country’s democracy.
She also added that president Trump will take steps to ensure that the voter integrity is intact.
Conway also reiterated that it has been proven by many intelligence community members, including Dan Coates, Mike Rogers, ex-FBI director James Comey, and former Homeland Security secretary Jeh Johnson that there is no evidence of collusion and this did not have an impact on the electoral result.
“I think it’s very important to show no nexus has been proven between what Russia or any other foreign government tried to do in the actual election results. The only person making that case prominently is Hillary Clinton and you’ve got everyone saying that there is no nexus and not a single vote was changed and we are going to stand by that,” Conway said.
Citing Johnson’s recent testimony in front of the senate intelligence committee, Conway said, “I am really struck by former homeland secretary Jeh Johnson’s testimony earlier this week, which you covered extensively here. He seemed very frustrated that the DNC refused the help of DHS because DHS knew that the DNC was vulnerable. The RNC, I am sure was vulnerable, but had the safeguards and protection in place and had a different result. It is very clear that even the in the Obama administration there was concern, there were actions trying to be taken, but the question for the DNC is: Why were you arrogant in not letting the DHS of your own administration help you? ”
When Camerota once again asked what the president is specifically planning against Russia to try to stop future hacking by Russia, a visibly annoyed Conway said, “Alisyn, I realize that we just like to say the word ‘Russia, Russia' to mislead the voters and I know that CNN is aiding and abetting this nonsense as well.
But you’ve asked me the question three times now and I answered it.”
President Trump's focus is on creating jobs
However, responding to the question once again, she said president Trump has met with his national security team many times and has initiated a commission on voter integrity. She also added that the president is also occupied with other initiatives like jobs creation.
“I think the president has been very clear about how he feels about this issue and many others. He also has a full roster. I know that CNN and others don’t want to cover it. Just last week, we opened up a $100 million investment in apprenticeship programs. About 90 percent of people who go through this skills certification apprenticeship programme are employed in short order with a $60,000 average salary.
Where’s the reporting on that?” she asked the CNN anchor.
Obamacare victims are real, says Conway
Conway also added that she, along with Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, met with Obamacare victims. “They are real. “They are suffering, they have been left behind out of the Affordable Care Act. If you want their information, I will provide it to you and you can interview them. There is so much real people impact happening here that doesn’t get covered,”she said.
