It only took a few seconds for Donald Trump to change the entire direction of the morning news. After tweeting out insulting remarks about the hosts of MSNBC's "Morning Joe," members of his administration have been backed into a corner.
Conway on Trump
The current state of American politics is unlike anything anyone has ever seen. After eight years of partisanship during the Obama administration, the election of Donald Trump has taken that division to another level.
When Trump first announced he was running for president, it was immediately clear his candidacy would be different those before him. One area where Trump differentiated himself was in how he handled the press. As the mainstream media held Trump's feet to fire on a daily basis, the former host of "The Apprentice" has only increased his criticism of the press. From labeling reports he doesn't like as "fake news," to banning well-respected news outlets from a White House press briefing earlier this year, there is no love lost between both sides. Two individuals who have been vocal in their opposition to Trump have been Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, the co-hosts of MSNBC's "Morning Joe." On Thursday morning, Trump decided to get personal in his feud with the hosts, going as far as accusing Brzezinski of trying to attend a New Year's Eve party with him while she was allegedly bleeding form a "facelift." As reported by TMZ on June 29, Kellyanne Conway was pressed on the issue and not happy to answer.
Just hours after Donald Trump sent out his aforementioned tweets, a reporter from TMZ caught up with Presidential Counsel Kellyanne Conway and attempted to get her thoughts on the issue at hand. "Good morning Kellyanne," the reporter said. "This morning President Trump just tweeted about Mika Brzezinski bleeding from a facelift, is that because of their feud they've been having?" Conway was asked.
"Lets pass Kate's Law today!" Kellyanne Conway responded, in reference to the upcoming immigration legislation being put up for a vote in the House of Representatives. As Conway was grilled further on the tweet, she noticed Democratic Rep. Debbie Dingell in the hallway and ran to her for cover. "Look, a bipartisan hug," Conway said while hugging the congresswoman who looked on with confusion.
As the reporter asked her once again about the tweets, Conway deflected, stating, "It's a gorgeous day here, isn't gonna make this one go away."
Moving forward
Despite members of his administration avoiding or defending his earlier tweets, the reaction has been universal in its backlash towards Donald Trump. After just six months in office, it appears that the billionaire real estate mogul is showing no signs of changing his tune anytime soon.
