As James Comey finally gave his long-awaited testimony in Congress regarding the ongoing Russian investigation, it was expected that Donald Trump wouldn't be pleased. As Comey opened up about his interactions with the president, even more damaging info was made public.

Trump on Comey

Donald Trump has been president for just five months and has been an official politician since his campaign announcement back in June 2015.

During that time, the former host of "The Apprentice" faced an onslaught of criticism from critics and the media over his controversial rhetoric and political proposals, though it's his alleged link to Russia that has stayed with him from day one. Trump and his administration have denied that they have been in cahoots with Russia, dismissing allegations of collusion. Multiple reports from credible news outlets, as well as internal investigations from various government agencies, have since confirmed that not only did Russia hack the 2016 presidential election and the Democratic National Committee, but did so with helping Trump become success in the process.

With an investigation taking place, recently fired FBI Director James Comey was questioned in Congress on June 8 to elaborate on his meetings with the president, as well as to reveal additional information that he had about his time investigating the Kremlin.

While answering questions in Congress on Thursday, James Comey ripped into Donald Trump, accusing the president of being a liar for how he handled his firing from the FBI. "Although the law required no reason at all to fire an FBI director, the administration then chose to defame me and, more importantly, the FBI by saying that the organization was in disarray," Comey said of Trump's handling of his termination. Not stopping there, Comey went on to say that his exit was "poorly led" by the president before pushing back at the claims that the FBI had "lost confidence" in his ability to led." "Those were lies, plain and simple," he concluded.

When pressed on why he felt the need to document his meetings with Donald Trump, James Comey continued to hold the president's feet to the fire. "I was honestly concerned that (Trump) might lie about the nature of our meeting."

Moving forward

As of press time, neither Donald Trump nor his administration have issued a comment over James Comey's hearing. With the pressure continuing to mount, it doesn't look like the Russian scandal will come to an end anytime soon.
