Jared Kushner is currently mired in controversy for allegedly proposing a secret communication channel to Russia. Earlier reports claimed the alleged proposal was laid down in December at Trump Tower in New York. Russia Ambassador, Sergei Kislyak, who was present during the meeting, was reportedly "taken aback" after hearing the plan.

What's the proposal?

Donald Trump's son-in-law reportedly offered to set up a "secret and secure communications channel" between the us president's campaign team and Russia by utilizing the latter's diplomatic facilities.

Trump's former security adviser, Michael Flynn, also witnessed Kushner's alleged proposal of the secret channel.

The private meeting was not revealed to the public and press until March. Two months later, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are reportedly planning to investigate Kushner's alleged proposal to Russia. Not only that, but the domestic intelligence are also considering to look into Kushner's separate meeting with a Russian banker.

Kislyak was reportedly perplexed by the proposal that would allow the Americans to make use of Russia's facilities to set up a secret communication channel. The Russian Ambassador thought the idea could pose a threat to the security of Moscow and even to Trump's transition team.

Both Flynn and the Russian Embassy have yet to give a comment on the issue at the moment of writing.

'Jared is doing a great job'

In the wake of the controversy, the US president commended Ivanka's husband for "doing a great job" for the American people. Trump even expressed his "total confidence" in his son-in-law despite his alleged proposal to Russia.

The leader added Kushner is "respected by virtually everyone" and praised him for his hard work in spearheading programs that would save the US billions of dollars. But more than his dedication to his work, Trump commended the real estate investor for being a "very good person."

The US president appointed Kushner to lead the Office of American Innovation back in March.

The new office was put up to fulfill Trump's promise to treat the federal government like a business organization that aims to provide suggestions to improve the operations of the government.

The leader added the main objective of the office was deliver "new thinking and real change" in the US. Kushner, on the other hand, said the office would be the answer to his nation's critical issues that directly affect the quality of life of the Americans.
