While spending time at his Florida resort on Thursday night, President Donald Trump ordered that the United States military launch close to 60 missiles at an airbase in Syria in response to the recent chemical attack on innocent civilians. Not long after the news broke, the president decided to make a statement.
Trump on Syria
Earlier this week, the civil war in Syria took another drastic turn as President Bashar al-Assad was suspected of enacting a chemical attack on his own people on the ground.
Close to 100 people were killed, many of them children, in yet another example of the tragedy taking place in the country. The international community, as expected, reacted with horror, as President Donald Trump said "something has to be done." That "something" turned out to be in the form of over 50 tomahawk cruise missiles that were used to destroy a Syrian airbase on Thursday night. As reported by NBC News on April 6, Trump has elaborated.
Appearing at a podium at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida on Thursday night, Donald Trump addressed the attack on Syria. "Bashar al-Assad launched a horrible chemical weapons attack on innocent civilians," Trump said, before adding that the Syrian president "chocked out the lives of helpless men, women and children." "Even beautiful babies were cruelly murdered in this barbaric attack," the former host of "The Apprentice" continued, while noting, "No child of god should ever suffer such horror."
Donald Trump went on to confirm that he ordered the aforementioned attack, before accusing the Syrian leader of using banned weapons.
"There can be no dispute that Syria used banned chemical weapons," the president said. As of press time, the Syrian government has not released a response to the United States Military attack, or to Trump's remarks from Mar-a-Lago.

According to MSNBC's Joe Scarborough, many United States allies were made aware of Donald Trump's decision before the attack was launched, while also giving their support for the attack in the process. Trump's move to attack Syria comes during controversial times in the region, as Russia and Iran are allies of Bashar al-Assad, potentially creating bigger issues for the U.S. and the current administration. It's unknown what steps Syria and it's allies will take in response to the attack from the United States, but many are worried that it could lead to a war that no one wants to see take place.
