Six-year-old david puckett wandered from his home near East Amherst Place and Jasper Street in Aurora, Colorado around 5:30 pm on Saturday, December 31st. According to the Amber Alert, he was wearing a tan jacket, black shirt, green camouflage pants, and black boots with an orange stripe. At a news conference on Sunday, the boy's mother, Stephanie Puckett, pleaded with the community to "please bring my baby home." She was concerned that her son was not dressed properly for the cold weather.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, along with the FBI and Colorado Bureau of Investigation are in full force searching for the missing boy.
Day 2 of search brings no clues
On Monday, the search intensified with bloodhounds searching for the boy's scent around a 205 mile radius of the boy's home. Authorities, along with volunteers, canvassed the neighbourhood to interview people and search for clues. Police stated that a helicopter and drone were used in the search but came up with no sign of the missing child. Officers also set up a checkpoint near East Iliff Avenue and South Chambers Road asking drivers if they had seen the missing boy.
In a press conference, authorities asked the community to look for the missing boy in their backyards, fridges, cabinets, old vehicles or anything a child could crawl into. Police said that calling his name wouldn't be enough. Authorities also asked for everyone to review surveillance camera footage in the area and report any sightings to them as soon as possible.
Abduction not suspected at this time
Although no foul play is suspected, Public Information Officer Crystal McKoy stated in a news conference that the CBI issued the amber alert "due to the passing of time and impending cold weather." David is described by police as "at risk" due to having a learning disability. He has wandered off school property in the past.
According to CBS Denver 4 News, a reward of $10,000 is now being offered.
