Of course, when it comes to Halloween it is always better to think outside the box, even when it comes to dressing our four-legged friends.

To show how much things have changed over the past three decades when it comes to Halloween costume sales, this year retailers are estimating that between costumes and candy sales, they could break an all-time record.

Halloween spending should hit a record $9.1 billion, according to the National Retail Federation, which surveyed shoppers with research firm Prosper Insights & Analytics. That would surpass the previous mark by 8.3%. That may not sound like a lot, but it will be nearly one billion dollars more than the previous mark set in 2016 of $8.4 billion.
