The latest updates for "Final Fantasy XV" reveal new details about the sequel's new DLC chapters as game director Hajime Tabata tells it all during an interview with Polygon at the Tokyo Game Show 2018 event. "Final Fantasy" fans have been waiting for the big reveal and Square Enix promised them that the new DLC stories will change the landscape of the sequel's lore.
There is also a new gameplay trailer showcasing three new crossover events from "Terra Wars," "Shadow of The Tomb Raider," and "DJ Nobunaga." "FFXV" tells the story of Prince Noctis and his friends as they embark on a journey across Eos to save his kingdom from the Niflheim Empire.
New DLC stories coming soon
Director Hajime Tabata told Polygon that the next DLC chapters for "Final Fantasy XV" will be a "brand new story" as he and the developers feel that there are still some pieces from the lore that are not yet explained. They want players to fill in the gaps for a brand new experience.
"We want to thoroughly secure the story in places where people think there are some pieces missing in the puzzle — we want to alleviate those issues," Tabata said. "At the same time, we want to build something new with the users, create a different sort of possibility with the direction that the story of Final Fantasy XV could head."
The first batch of DLC chapters are focused on Noctis's friends Gladiolus, Prompto, and Ignis, and each chapter takes place within the main story.
The new DLC stories will be focused on Ardyn Izunia, Aranea Highwind, Lunafreya Nox Fleuret, and Noctis himself.
Adryn's story will take place before the main story and it will reveal how he fell from grace with the Lucis Kings. Aranae's story will reveal her "worst day ever" during the main plot, while Luna's story takes place after her death.
Lastly, Noctis's chapter will highlight his final battle with Ardyn and ascension to the throne.
