The latest updates for "Overwatch" reveal a new animated short film and an upcoming playable game map. Blizzard Entertainment streamed the new short film and it focused on E-Sports player turned MEKA pilot, Hana Song (a.k.a. D.Va). Her journey led her from being a top video game player to Korea's national hero.

Blizzard also announced a new map arena as they are testing the Busan map in their latest public test realm session. The developers previously added the new character, Hammond (Wrecking Ball) to the game's growing roster. Video game fans are currently enjoying themselves in this year's Summer Games event.

Shooting Star short film revealed

According to GameSpot, Blizzard Entertainment showcased D.Va's short animated film at the Korea Fanfest and the film highlights Hana Song's journey in the game. This also marks the ninth character-driven short film for the game as previous films focused on characters Winston, Widowmaker, Soldier 76, Hanzo, Bastion, Sombra, Mei, and Reinhardt.

The film starts off with Hana repairing her MEKA, while her teammate is watching the news documenting the team's efforts to stop the Omnics from invading South Korea. While the reports say that Hana is enjoying the fruits of her labors by living a life of "glitz and glamour," she is at home eating chips and making certain upgrades and modifications in preparation for the next threat.

Hana's previous encounter with a huge Omnic was disastrous as her entire team was wiped out leaving her the only survivor. With her status as the country's national hero, Hana carries a heavy burden and feels that she alone must live up to their standards, even if it means risking her own life.

D.Va launches into battle as a new wave of Omnic battle droids are fast approaching the city.

She has a hard time fighting them as they quickly adapt to her fighting skills. Hana was able to get rid of some of them but the last one caught her by surprise.

Having no other choice, Hana asked for her teammate's help and they planned to destroy the last drone by blowing up her MEKA. She fell down under the sea and she was taken to a hospital.

Hana woke up enjoying her time-off while fixing her new MEKA.

Busan game map announced

According to VG 24/7, "Overwatch" lead designer, Jeff Kaplan, announced the new Busan game map and they are currently testing the map in the PTR.

The map is divided into three areas: Sanctuary, Downtown, and the MEKA base. The Sanctuary features a temple with beautiful gardens and structures, while Downtown is a wonderous and futuristic city full of ads for their hero, D.Va. The MEKA base will feature the different battle mechs that were used to fight the Omnics.
