The latest updates for "Kingdom Hearts 3" reveal details about a new boss battle and EconoTimes reported that it could one of the beloved characters in the "Toy Story" films. Square Enix will also showcase the sequel at this year's PAX West video game event this weekend.
"Kingdom Hearts 3" will continue the adventures of Sora, Donald, and Goofy as they travel to different Disney Worlds to save its inhabitants from the Heartless and the new Organization XIII led by Master Xehanort. They are also joined by Riku, King Mickey, Kairi, and Axel as they prepare themselves for the coming war and save Aqua from succumbing to the darkness.
Zurg teased in the Kingdom Hearts 3
Square Enix community manager, Sunil Godhania gave fans a sneak peek of what "Kingdom Hearts 3" looks and feels like when it launches on January 2019. The demo was shown at Gamescom 2018 and it featured the "Toy Box" world wherein Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and the rest of Andy's Toys live.
The "Toys Story" world was first seen in the last year's D23 event and players explored the huge world and fought the Heartless that are spawning from Galaxy Toys. Godhania explained the importance of Keyblade transformations as Sora can unlock new abilities and use it against hordes of enemies.
Godhania stated that the game developers wanted to keep the boss characters from each world as secret.
However, EconoTimes speculated that the boss character on Toy Box wears a black cloak and speculated that it could be the Evil Emperor Zurg, Buzz's archnemesis in the "Toy Story" franchise.
While Square Enix has not made a comment regarding Zurg's appearance, perhaps they will discuss more details about him and the other Disney villains soon.
So far, three Disney villains are featured in "KH3's" cast: Maleficent, Hades, and Pete.
Other Disney worlds that are featured in the sequel include "Frozen," "Hercules," "Tangled," "Big Hero 6," "Monsters Inc.," "Pirates of the Caribbean," and "Ratatouille." Square Enix will add more worlds to the game as part of their post-launch plans.
