The latest updates for "Kingdom Hearts 3" revealed a new gameplay video of the sequel during its premiere invitation event. Square Enix showcased it to several members of the video game press and they witnessed the changes they made in terms of gameplay and features. This could be the Japanese developer's way of making progress and gathering more data for improvement, based on the feedback they received from the press.

Game director Tetsuya Nomura also teased the official release date announcement of the sequel as they promised that it will launch this year.

They are also preparing to dish out some new content at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo event.

The premiere invitation gameplay

The "Kingdom Hearts 3" premiere invitation event gameplay featured Sora, Donald, and Goofy going on quests from two Disney worlds; Mt. Olympus from "Hercules" and Toy Box from "Toys Story." As seen in the video, Sora will have the ability to change the Keyblade's form into different weapons such as hammers, magic wands, and yo-yos based on the Disney worlds they visited.

Sora can use these weapons to add more damage from powerful Heartless monsters. The latter can also run on walls as seen in the Rock Titan boss fight and when going outside of Andy's house. Sora and his friends are accompanied by Woody and Buzz Lightyear as they fight the Heartless on the streets and inside the toy store.

There are also special summons in the game such as a magical train, riding on a rocket with Woody and Buzz, and getting a piggyback ride from Ralph from the "Wreck-it Ralph" movie. Ralph will have the ability to place four pieces of blocks from his video game world and smashed them with his fist, creating a huge shockwave to wipe out enemies.

Sora can also ride a mecha to provide more firepower against enemies riding another mech. The sequel will feature new worlds from "Tangled," "Toy Story," "Monsters Inc.," "Big Hero 6," and more. Video game fans are hoping that "Frozen," "The Jungle Book," and "The Incredibles" will be added to the game.

Release date announcement next month

According to IGN, Tetsuya Nomura and his team are planning to announce "Kingdom Hearts 3's" official release date on June.

"We do plan to announce [the release date] early next month," Nomura said. "We are making final, last-minute adjustments, but we are pretty firm on a certain date, so we hope to reveal it next month."

This could also support the report that Square Enix is hosting a conference at E3 2018 to showcase their new projects for this year and the next.

The plot of the sequel will feature Sora and his friends the Heartless, and the new Organization XIII led by Master Xehanort.
