"Fortnite Battle Royale" is a free-to-play game, yet its creator, Epic Games, has made a huge profit from it in less than one year. While the game is available to everyone for free of charge, the game developer makes money from cosmetic items that are sold in the in-game store. This has worked very well for Epic Games so far, but players also don't mind it as paying for cosmetic items offers no competitive advantage.

At the moment, players can buy four different types of cosmetic items from the store: outfits (skins), pickaxes, gliders, and emotes.

There are a few more cosmetic items players can choose to use, such as back blings and skydiving trails, but these cannot be bought from the store. According to the latest leak, Epic Games could soon release a few more types of cosmetic items, including hats, vehicle skins, and victory poses.

New cosmetic items

Twitter page @FNBRUnreleased has recently leaked some very interesting info about upcoming "Fortnite Battle Royale" additions. The page posted a screenshot of the inventory data sent by the server when players are choosing their favorite locker items. The screenshot shows existing locker items, such as gliders and pickaxes, but it also has some new additions.

As you can see in the picture above, the new items are favorite_hat and favorite_vehicledeco which refer to hats and vehicle decorations.

Additionally, it appears that players will be able to select their favorite victory pose and a 3D map marker. At the moment, it is unknown whether a victory pose will be just an emote or a completely new cosmetic item, but it will definitely be an interesting addition.

There are no more details about these additions, so it is hard to tell what hats will be exactly.

However, it would make sense if Epic Games puts any head armor or accessory under this category. As for vehicle decorations, this had been leaked before and it turns out that these decorations will only affect All Terrain Karts.

Potential release date

Right now, the release of these cosmetic additions is still unknown. However, considering that these additions are relatively big, it won't be surprising if the "Fortnite Battle Royale" creator postpones them until season 6.

Some of these new cosmetics could be added with a season 6 Battle Pass, while others could appear in the in-game store. At the moment, season 5 is in its fourth week and will last for six more weeks at least.
