Oh my Glob! Yesterday, on April 26, 2018, Outright Games released the official USA trailer for the highly-anticipated new open-world game, "Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion."

According to their release description, gamers will be able to play as Finn, Jake, BMO, and Marceline to explore the kingdoms of the Land of Ooo with 3D visuals, a new, original story, tactical combat, and much more!

The title will be released this July 17, 2018, on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and on July 20, 2018, globally.

Who is Outright Games?

Outright Games, according to their website, is "a family business making family entertainment," which makes them well suited to be the makers of the "Adventure Time" game as the show entertains mainly a young audience despite having an adult fan base.

The publisher may not have many games under their belt yet, but their team boasts having worked on well-known titles such as "Adventure Time," "How to Train Your Dragon," and "Kung Fu Panda." Their website also shows a Release Date for a "Hotel Transylvania 3" game for this Summer 2018, which we will be looking out for.

While the game is published by Outright Games, it was developed by Climax Studios, a seasoned, UK-based developer that has worked on over 100 games, as listed on their website.

Some of these titles include well-known names such as "Silent Hill: Shattered Memories" and new VR-Experience games such as "Hunter's Gate." The developer also participated in an interview conducted by WellPlayed to discuss the making of "Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion."

'Adventure Time' in gaming?

While this will be the first open-world experience for the show's game history, this is surely not the first game that has been released under its name.

Some other titles in the past have included "Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I Don't Know!" and "Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd you steal our garbage?!!" (not a typo). In fact, even a "Minecraft" mash-up pack was released in 2017 for a true "Adventure Time" experience.

The meaning of 'Enchiridion'

Whether you're a die-hard fan of the show or a casual viewer, it may help to brush up on some trivia from the show.

The "Enchiridion" was an ancient, mystical book of rules and helpful info for heroes that Finn found early in the series, back in Season One. The book was involved in inter-dimensional travel through the multiverse of the series and appeared a few more times throughout the rest of the seasons. While the book helped our heroes through many adventures, there still leaves a lot of room for speculation on what all the book can do, which makes it a great candidate as a catalyst in this new "Adventure Time" story.

The exciting new game is available for pre-order on the Outright Games website through Amazon, GameStop, and Target. Let the countdown begin!
