We are only six weeks into 2018, yet Epic Games, "Fortnite" developer, has already released three new weapons to the Battle Royale mode of the game. Ever since the PvP mode was released in late September last year, the Game Developer worked hard to make the game more interesting for its playerbase. Players have received numerous updates and the game looks much better now than it originally looked a few months ago.

While players are happy with the updates they received, it's not a secret that Epic Games dealt with some major server issues. However, the game developer addressed this issue, as well as many other things, in the latest State of Development post.

Server fixes

Epic Games admitted that the servers haven't been stable and it is currently the biggest issue the game developer has to deal with. However, the development team announced they would improve stability of client builds by changing release plans and processes.

In addition, Epic Games added West Coast (USA) and Brazilian servers on Xbox to increase connection quality and decrease latency.

60 FPS on consoles

Epic Games tried to run "Fortnite" Battle Royale on consoles at 60 frames per second, but there have been some issues with this. At the moment, players can uncap the frame rate which allows the game to achieve up to 60 frames per second, but it's quite unstable and it decreases visual quality.

However, there will be an optional 60 FPS mode coming to consoles that will maximize frame rate while minimizing loss of visual quality.

Custom games

The development team did not give us the exact release date of custom games, but they wrote that they've been testing it for a while now, and that players will receive it after they fix the bugs in the mode.

Limited Time Modes

"Fortnite" Battle Royale will keep receiving more LTM's, including the improved 50v50 mode! At the moment, the developers' priority is to enable multiple playlists (solo, duo, squad) for these modes, but there will be also more limited time modes coming to the game.

Some of these modes are the Blitz mode, which will feature shorter matches, and the improved 50v50 mode, which will put teams on separate buses and add a few more big changes.

New art

Beside gameplay changes, Epic Games will keep adding new cosmetic items to the game. For example, the picture you can see below is a glider that could be added to the game very soon.

New skins will also be added to the game...

...as well as new pickaxe models!
