US gaming giant Blizzard made its first big salvo this year when it unveiled a special anniversary event for its dungeon crawler action role-playing game, “Diablo III.” The much-talked “Diablo 3’s Darkening of Tristam” has made a big return to the gaming world.

According to GameRant, Blizzard’s popular dungeon crawler “Diablo 3 will get a retro makeover again. The big announcement features the game’s “Darkening of Tristam,” a limited-time event meant to celebrate the anniversary of the original "Diablo" game’s release.

Just like last year, the special gaming anniversary has also gone partially live.

The event officially goes live on January 3 at exactly 4 p.m. Pacific Time or 7 p.m. Eastern Time. But before that, the “Dark of Tristam” has already made some appearance on Adventure mode only, adding some excitement to the gaming world.

What the special event will bring to the gaming world

As mentioned earlier by GameSpot, "Diablo 3's" graphics and even sound effects have been given a huge makeover, making it like the original "Diablo 1" game. These include the game’s UI experience, which has reportedly received some overhaul. However, Blizzard has decided to keep the game's core gameplay style intact for some good reason.

As for the fans who want to experience the “Darkening of Tristam,” Blizzard said that fans can play it with a new or existing character, including fan’s Necromancer builds.

However, the developer strongly recommends the creation of fresh character in order to experience the full potential of the gaming event “Darkening of Tristam.”

Finally, Blizzard also announced that the special event “Darkening of Tristam” will end on January 30, 2018. The developer has not made any comment whether the special event will return next year.

About the dungeon crawler

Developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment, “Diablo III” is a dungeon crawler action RPG that was first introduced to PC and MacOs in 2012. This was quickly followed by console versions for PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013. Then in August 2014, Blizzard released the PS4 and Xbox One versions. The game is the third entry in the action-packed “Diablo” game series.

When it released to the market, the game has quickly gained tractions in the market, especially the hard-core gamers. It set a gaming record for the fastest selling PC video games, selling over 3.5 million copies in the first 24 hours of its release to the market. The game features destructible environments with an extremely amazing in-game damage effect, which was made possible by the proprietary game engine that incorporates Blizzard’s custom in-house physics.

The game has received two big DLC expansions in the past few years. The first one was the “Diablo III: Reaper of Souls,” which was first released in March 2014. The second one was the downloadable content “Diablo III: Rise of the Necromancer,” which was released for the MacOS, PC and the latest generation console version of the game in June 2017. The second DLC expansion has added the Necromancer class to the dungeon crawler game. “Diablo III” is currently available on MacOS, PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
