Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is the second entry in the franchise that will be launched in all regions on Nintendo Switch in early December. As the Japanese role-playing game (JRPG) releases in less than two months, Nintendo dropped the latest footage teasing a new gameplay mechanic and more characters from the game.

The game’s official Twitter account in Japan posted a gameplay footage showcasing the new mechanic called Button Challenge. This new challenge will enable players to give out extra damage in a press of a button at a perfect time.

More characters teased

Moreover, there are additional videos posted on the same page. But this time, the short clips revealed a glimpse at two more characters in “Xenoblade Chronicles 2.”

Based on the available translator, the first teaser video offered a look at the "Thistles" tuning scene.

The second tweet, when also roughly translated to English, talked about “Kubla” tuning scene. “Oh bossy!

I instinctively vCJD and it seems terrible too!” the post read.

Newest build

Back at Milan Games Week, the Japanese publisher presented the newest build of the JRPG from acclaimed developer Monolith Soft. The lengthy gameplay video, which lasted more than 40 minutes, basically showed what players can expect from the game once it launches.

Similar to the previous installments, the game world in the next entry is massive and stunning while the combat system seems to promise a lot of fun.

Special Edition

Earlier, Nintendo announced the Special Edition of the game, which is available now for pre-order. Priced at $99.99, this special package includes a sound selection CD, a metal game case, and a 220-page hardbound art book.

Also, gamers can purchase the beautiful and limited edition Switch Pro Controller that is up now for pre-purchase at a price of $75 USD. The new Pro Controller sports a crimson-colored back and grips, with a flashy decal of the game on the front.

For the uninitiated, the second installment is a direct sequel to the original "Xenoblade Chronicles" title released in 2010 for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. However, the new entry in the series will introduce players to an entirely new open-world setting with new characters, Rex and Pyra, who are on their quest to find Elysium.

"Xenoblade Chronicles 2" will be launched exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on December 1, 2017.
