"Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne" was released over a decade ago, but shows no signs of slowing down. Blizzard Entertainment's Warcraft series has proven to be able to stand the test of time with players across the world. One reason for this is the mods built by players which have ensured the games staying power. One of the biggest sites to locate the best mods as well as all things Warcraft is the Hive Workshop.
Below is a list of five mods found on their website that are worth giving a try.
1. The Inifinity Anime
Created by Dhguardianes and Sapphy, this mod is described as an anime parody of the original Infinity map. This mod features the same features as the original Infinity with the addition of an exclusive announcer Rise-chan. Originally created back in November of 2015 it was recently updated on October 12, 2017. One of the moderators on the Hive Workshop described The Infinity Anime as "Beautiful terrain, comfortable sounds, and great battle feeling."
2. Sands of Time v1.9
This mod was created by Maxwell and features some interesting gameplay.
The bronze sanctuary is timed, players get five minutes to exit the sanctuary, however yo can add a few seconds to your time for each enemy killed, and there are runes of time which spawn every minutes and add two minutes to your time when found and collected.
At the center of the map is the timeless one. Defeating the timeless one grants extra XP and allows you to control him, effectively stopping your timer and allowing you to unleash his might on your enemies base.
3. Azeroth Reimagined
Created by Linkin. This mod features custom and changeable factions, open alliances, zones which may affect the health of units, and custom naval warfare. Linkin went to great lengths to make this map very different from the rest of the maps in Warcraft, and it shows.
4. Warhammer: Eternal Strife (Melee)
Created by Nightmare2077. Warhammer: Eternal Strife (melee) features a unique specialization system which provides four specializations to each race. Along with that each hero receives a free item.
5. Northrend Bound v1.37
Created by Wark. This mod features single, co-op, and free-for-all game modes as well as a morality system based upon the reputation with the townsfolk. There are also different ways to win, three to be exact, there's economic, conquest, and heroic.
