Maxis has a way to surprise fans of the popular life simulation video game, The Sims 4.” Recently, the team launched a free update that adds more fun stuff and some important fixes in the game.

On Tuesday, the Sims team updated the PC version to 1.35.10.1010 and Mac version to 1.35.10.1210. The update is completely free and available now for download. In case the game doesn’t run the automatic update, gamers just need to right click on the game and then click on “update.”

For the uninitiated, players will lose their Mod or Custom Content right after installing the new update.

However, players can retrieve their mods by going to “Other” section. Then choose “Enable Custom Content and Mods” and reboot the game to get things restored.

TS4 celebrates Diwali

Notably, the latest free update for “The Sims 4” brings a set of cool items to the game’s Holiday Celebration Pack as a tribute to the traditional celebration of Diwali, a famous Indian holiday. It adds holiday-themed new objects and Create-A-Sim (Cas) assets.

According to the Sims team, players must first download the Holiday Celebration Pack if they haven’t done it yet. After downloading, they can click on it from “Your Collection” in the main menu and receive the new update for free. Players can find these items in CAS and Build Mode.

New CAS assets and objects

There are seven Create-A-Sim assets available now in the Holiday Celebration Pack. These include costumes for both grown-ups and kids, a set of earrings for girls, and new hair for ladies and girls.

On the other hand, the new objects include a clay lamp "Diya," a set of attractive rangoli-inspired carpets, and some candle lights.

In addition, gamers can use four unique wall strings to create a decor perfect for the special occasion. Maxis noted, however, that these are not lights but work like the real ones.

Other changes

Apparently, the latest update also patched some lingering issues found in the game. It now addressed the problem of NVIDIA GeForce users that received “Unrecognized Video Card” notification while playing.

“The Sims 4” is currently available in PC and Mac versions, which will also receive the highly awaited "Cats and Dogs" Expansion Pack on November 10 and "Laundry Day" Stuff Pack sometime in 2018. The life simulation title will also arrive on Xbox One and PS4 consoles on November 17, 2017, with four DLC packs available for purchase at launch.
