With the release of the latest Star Wars movie just months away, fans have a lot to look forward to. There is a possible spin-off in the works that may tell the story behind Obi-Wan Kenobi. Entertainment Arts is releasing a new "Battlefront" game that promises major improvement over the first release in 2015. Although the original game was released to much fanfare and sold 14 million copies, the excitement died down quickly.

Now EA is back with its release of "Star Wars: Battlefront 2," and the release promises to make up for the shortcomings of the previous game. It provides a story mode that will fill in the blanks for players and offers better multiplayer modes.

Single player story mode

The Verge reported that after the release of the original "Battlefront," EA listened to the feedback from players. While the company is bringing back a lot of things from the original game, EA made a lot of changes in the multiplayer mode which make it more like what a "Battlefront" game should be. It includes other eras of the franchise, classes, and more accessible heroes.

Players will get to play characters like Iden Versio, who leads an elite Imperial special forces group called Inferno Squad. Mark Thompson, the game director at Motive, said the campaign was built upon three pillars of "Battlefront" gameplay. These include playing a trooper on the ground, being an ace starfighter pilot in the sky, and playing various iconic Star Wars heroes.

Polygon reported that "Battlefront 2" offers an intriguing story mode. In the story mode, the Emperor is dead, the second Death Star has been destroyed, and Imperial Commander Iden Versio is planning her revenge against the Rebels. The single-player mode includes lots of visual imagery that includes TIE Fighters, X-Wings, AT-ATs and the Millennium Falcon.

Players will see cameos from the original trilogy of both Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. Maz Kanata and Kylo Ren from the current trilogy also make an appearance.

What happened after the Emperor died

The Hollywood Reporter said that the new trailer teases the "Return of the Jedi" aftermath from the point of view of the bad guys. Commander Iden Versio, the leader of the Imperial task force Inferno Squad, is at the center of the story. After witnessing the second destruction of the Death Star, she rallies her forces for a counterattack, and the Empire tries to strike back. The game is set for release November 17. As for the movies, the opening crawl of the next Star Wars release teases fans while the fate of Kyle Ren promises something unexpected.
