“Y’s VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana” is full of familiar heroes. Adol Christin, who we have seen in several “Y’s” series, is back with a lot of other characters from the previous games. In the midst of these familiar faces, “Y’s VIII” introduces its new heroine, Dana. Dana is a young woman with striking blue hair, the aura of an amazing hero, and looks really promising for a new female lead. Tossing in a sea full of familiar faces, the new game introduces her in a very intricate way.
The chosen one
“Y’s VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana” introduces the new heroine through dreams.
In the game, Adol first sees her in his sleep being taken away from her home. The dream shows the player that Dana is a special person who possesses a certain gift and was chosen to do a certain task. As players go on through her journey, you will see her attacking enemies and going through dungeons seemingly nostalgic to the ones Adol went through in the past.
Dana is a beautiful woman, her overall design seems very familiar from the past games especially those of Reah and Feena. She is described to be imaginative and prone to doing things that surprise the people around her. The new heroine is, also, from an advanced civilization outside of Eresia. In the story, Adol will be able to see her life through his dreams.
Not a replacement hero
Another thing players will notice in “Lacrimosa of Dana,” is that despite the game being named after her; she never feels like a replacement for Adol. Rather than being the main lead, Dana poses as the central balancing character. She stands side by side with Adol and compliments him in the new series.
Seeing Dana in dreams provides a sort of relief after Adol’s fighting. Players, also, get to experience another world that is much more advanced and give players a sense of a much bigger world.
“Y’s VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana” is the latest game under the “Y’s” series. The story follows Adol and Dana on a brand new adventure. While traveling in the Goethe Sea, Adol boards a passenger ship called the Lombardia.
The hero is set to go to Eresia and was safely traveling until the ship was ruined by a massive creature. After the eventful attack, Adol wakes up on the shores of a cursed island called the Siren Island. Here, his new adventure awaits.
“Y’s VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana” is out now in North America for the PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4, and PC. The game will be available in Europe starting September 15.
