Niantic has rolled out a new update for “Pokémon GO.” They have also added a free item, which is a brand new T-shirt that players can add to their avatar wardrobes. The purpose is to honor the Global Goals for Sustainable Development, which is an initiative to end climate change, inequality, and poverty around the world.

New update fixes bug problems

In order to spread awareness about the initiative, Niantic partnered with Global Goals earlier this year and even added 17 PokeStops to represent each and every goal.

The update is already live on all Android and iOS devices. Apart from the T-shirt, the patch also fixes bug problems. Meanwhile, trainers still have the chance to catch the three Legendary Beasts Suicune, Raikou, and Entei.

These beasts will be available in one region of the world until Sept. 30. After that, they will move on to another part of the world. The “Pokémon GO” update (0.75.0 for Android and 1.45.0 for iOS) will allow players to acquire the items after completing Raid Battles and spinning Gym PokeStops displayed in the Journal.

Niantic has provided a fix for the bug that made Pikachu hats disappear from the in-game icon and model.

The screen search functionality for Pokémon Collection has also been improved. Now, trainers can search using “Legendary” and “Defender.” Another bug that caused icons to disappear while scrolling through the Pokedex, has also been fixed, GameSpot reports.

Niantic CTO talks audio inclusion in AR

Niantic is reportedly developing a new Augmented Reality (AR) game that will incorporate audio into its gaming experience. The news came from company CTO Phil Keslin. He recently spoke at the TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco, about the future of AR, and even pointed out a major problem.

The problem faced by all players is the constant need to hold up their phones when playing AR games, such as “Pokémon GO.” Keslin believes it to be unnatural, where those holding up their phones for a long time, “look like a total doofus.” During the event, he seemed excited about how audio can change the AR experience.

No word on next Niantic title

Keslin stated that audio will be a significant addition, as it is a primary human sense. AR is not only about visual. The audio feature will probably come to “Pokémon GO.” Keslin said, "Niantic is not “a one-game wonder.
